The second characteristic of a servant leaders that we can see is that authentic leaders have what Murray Boman referred to as "a well-differentiated self". We commonly say that an authentic leader is "comfortable in their own skin". Such leaders do not depend so heavily own the acceptance and approval of others that the leader changes the way they think, behave, or lead. A servant leader who has a clear understanding of who the are and whose the are comfortable with the decisions they have made. This confidence comes from the knowledge that every decision is not made based on whims, what is easiest, or the emotion of the moment. We the clamor and noise of the group dies down the servant leader stands strong in their decision because it is one rooted in the careful assessment of the facts and made after conferring with God.
