I am a person who is not built to be on the sea. In fact just a few months ago, I went fishing with our youth on the Chesapeake Bay and have never been so happier to see a dock. It was all I could do not to fall on the dry ground and kiss it when we finally got back to shore. However, I digress. I have read how sailors on the open sea navigate their way by focusing on the North Star. No matter where you are on the seas the North Star will always, always point you to true north. Likewise, I have been told and read that sailors when they are out and about attempt to have a reference point or and anchor point. This always helps them to keep their bearings straight.

Over the past couple of weeks, we at HMBC have been unable to meet for worship due to the awful weather. Who would have thought that Fredericksburg would get over 40" or snow in one winter? Since we have been unable to meet, at times I have lost my anchor point for my week. While I sail in the sea of chaos, endless news cycles, sports news, etc. I always look forward to worshipping together with you. It helps me to make sense of the craziness of the world while helping to point me to my true north, Jesus Chirst. While we have not met together for the past couple of weeks, I do urge you to take the time to slow down and re-orientate your life to your true north...Jesus Chirst.
